Type K Socket And Plug
DOACEDirectThe Type K plug and socket, commonly known as the Danish standard plug and socket, is used almost exclusively in Denmark and Greenland.
Danish power plugs and sockets are manufactured according to the Danish standard DS 60884-2-D1. The Type K plug has three pins, with the grounding pin having a U-shaped cross-section that is 14 mm long, 4 mm thick, and 6.5 mm in diameter. The neutral and live pins are round, measuring 19 mm in length and 4.8 mm in diameter, with their centers spaced 19 mm apart. Unlike the Type E plug, the grounding pin of the Type K plug is on the plug itself rather than on the socket. The Type K plug is rated for 16 amperes.

Type K sockets are compatible with Type C plugs, as well as Type E and Type F plugs. However, when these plugs are inserted into Type K sockets, they cannot be grounded because they do not have a corresponding grounding pin for the Type K socket. Due to the large number of imported appliances in Denmark that use Type E/F hybrid plugs, the Danish government also allows the installation of Type E or Type F sockets within the country. In the long term, Type F sockets may gradually replace Type K sockets in Denmark.
